What is the future tense?
A future tense verb describes an event or state that will occur in the future. The tense of a verb is determined by when the action took place.
There are four forms of the future tense. They include:
Simple Future Tense – simple future tenses express actions that will take place in the future.
Simple future tense form: Subject + will + base form of verb. For example, I will read.
Future Progressive Tense – Future progressive tense expresses future actions that will be in progress at some point in the future (actions that the subject will be doing).
Future progressive tense form: Subject + will be + present participle (and “-ing” to end of the verb). For Example, I am reading.
Future Perfect Tense – Future perfect tense refers to actions that will be completed before another future event or that will be completed in the future.
Future perfect tense form: Subject + will have + past participle of verb. For Example, I will have read.
Future Perfect Progressive Tense – Actions that will be completed in the future are expressed in the future perfect progressive tense.
Future perfect progressive tense form: Subject + will have been + present participle (and “-ing” to end of the verb). For Example, I will have been reading.
