English… “biggest hurdle for rural people”
Let me tell you a very big secret….”English is not a difficult language at all…”
Learning English is very simple but knowing right grammar is the key to success.
Yes you need to know what’s right and what’s wrong that you can get know by reading some good books which focus on teaching you the right grammar. Once that’s done you are 30% near to your goal of speaking fluent English….
Next thing you need to do it “Think English”….Okay don’t get to think so much like what’s this think English…I will explain you…
You have your mother tongue or a native language which you use in day to day life right…what happens whenever you think you will frame some words in mind but the process happens very fast and you would have ignored that fact that you think and frame some words in your mind.
Now all you have to do is think those things in English…
For example: Whenever you talk to yourself or something some mind voice you will be able to hear every second try to frame sentences with the words of your mind’s dictionary and talk to yourself…. Easy right 😀
Never be afraid to speak in front of people…
Yes..!!!! Major problem is thinking too much about the facts like….
WHAT IF THEY THINK SOMETHING ABOUT ME?!!
WHAT IF THEY LAUGH AT ME??!!
WHAT IF THEY TEASE ME?!!
WHAT IF THEY IGNORE ME???!!!
My answer for all these scary questions is a question to you in return…
Why do you even care?!!
Yes bullies are every where and world has equal number of awesome people. Yes….Being from a rural place, studying in Regional language (kannada) medium..I know how much it took for me to come to this stage. People like me will be a positive hope and support for you and they will help you to be better…Trust me when I say this! I help my friends to speak up and speak better 🙂 HAVE FAITH IN YOURSELF AND KEEP GOING!!!!!!
Next most important thing…
Never miss an opportunity to address a gathering….
To be very frank this is your ultimate stepping stone…Yes..!! It can be giving a presentation, speech etc etc… Take it as a opportunity….All you have to do at the back-end is speak in front of mirror or your besties and 1st time you might get scared and do it with less satisfaction but when the process gets iterative you will be a superstart!!! Whoa!!! Yaaayy!!!!!
Last and final tip….
Watch English movies, channels, Read news papers(Any paper which is written in english I was been told to even read the wrapper of any products you buy or the writings on bottles and all), Watch news channels…
This will help you a lot…
Summary:
- Learn good pronunciation….
- Learn good grammar…
- “THINK” in English!!!
- Never get afraid
- Address gathering to gain self confidence.
- Watch and Read English English English!!!!!!!!
These are few things which I followed in my life to improve my communication…….
I really started as nothing but now I see myself in a better position. Learning never ends and I will keep learning till the age my brain supports learning. Till now I will learn the new words which my fellow speaker uses. Now I can address a gathering of thousands but trust me I started with 30 (in 1st year PUC).
I wish you all the very best and may you speak very fluent English in coming days 🙂
